The Unexpected...

I love to be pleasantly shocked when I walk into a room.  I love how overlooked, unexpected objects have a chance to become the show-stopper!
One of my favorite things to do is hit the Midway Mercantile shop looking for that specific what-if piece; this then helps me to create a space that goes against the traditional/specific vignette scheme.
Below are beautiful rooms full of life, comfort, style and organic simplicity:

Have a wonderful weekend!

The eagle has landed....

It's been a mammoth few weeks. As you can probably tell, my poor little blog has taken a back seat to everything else that's been going on. But even though there's been precious little blog action, I've been painting like a woman possessed! For those of you who follow me on Facebook, you'll have seen a sneak peek of the biggest painting I've done for quite a while. This bad boy is 1.5m x 3m long (around 5' x 10') - a real statement piece. The canvas was custom-stretched, specialist art transport was needed due to its sheer size....but it was totally worth it. I absolutely love it, but more importantly, my gorgeous client Helen loves it too. Here it is:

'Equinox'
mixed media on canvas
1.5m x 3m
private commission

We did plan to have it delivered and hung all on the same day, but there were a few hiccups which meant it was only hung today. I'll be heading over next week to get some lovely in-situ shots, and I'll post those as soon as I can. I'm so looking forward to seeing it in place in Helen's beautifully restored Queenslander - very exciting!

Thanks for bearing with me lately. Even though my usual blogging routine has been completely thrown out the window, I have lots of original commissions on order, as well as some new paintings of my own. For all the news, sneak peeks and previews of new work, you may want to head on over and 'like' my Facebook page. I'd love to see you there!

Have a great weekend everyone,

First Impressions

Patricia Gray Inc Hamilton

I was meeting with a client recently about a new home they are building and I was discussing my philosophy of the importance in creating an environment that nurtures and supports the needs and lifestyles of the occupants. There is so much more than meets the eye when designing a home. I am reminded by what I was taught by my feng shui instructor and mentor Grandmaster Professor Thomas Lin Yun: ‘when you enter a space it takes your body and psyche tens seconds to adjust to the space – either in a negative or a positive way.’ Our homes are living and dynamic vessels that either optimally support us, or support us in a diminished capacity. Is your home all it can be?

A Charming Little Dance Store...

My mom owns this charming little dance store called Dance Works!  This store sells everything to do with dance wear - so if you have a little girl needing the perfect tutu with the perfect ballet shoe - they have it!  They also have cute things that cross over to street wear: leggings, wrap sweaters, yoga/pilate wear, funky T-shirts, jackets... the list goes on!
What's also fun is my sister Dallas works there.  She sells some of her art and also will take special orders for that perfect gift.
So remember - if you're watching Dancing with the Stars and you're itching to dance - go check out Dance Works!  They'll have everything you need to pursue your dancing dreams!

A Perfect White Geranium

Patricia Gray Perfect Geranium_1
To my delight and surprise this morning I found this last perfect white geranium in my garden as the nights are turning cold and crisp and we are rapidly approaching winter. It is hardy and pure.
