Monochrome Holiday Home Anchored In The Landscape Of Normandy

The monochrome building was constructed making use of laminated wooden panels and slate cladding, which reacts to the altering skies of Normandy.</p><br/><img alt="design ghouse Monochrome Holiday Home Anchored In The Landscape Of Normandy home improvement " height="400" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/design-ghouse.jpg" style=" display: block margin-right: auto margin-left: auto" title="style ghouse" width="600" /><br/><p>Once inside, guests will come across cozy, yet hollow volumes and furnishings arrangements reflecting practicability more than something else: “<em>A series of load-bearing walls, produced of wooden panels, carve the space. Openings, reduce in their thickness, create approaches, frame interior views or invite the nearby landscape in. By making use of the effects of superimpositions and gaps, these image windows give a kaleidoscopic vision of the property and its inhabitants</em>“. Durability, aesthetics and integration within the nearby landscape were the primary objectives of the architects when building the project. Peace out

It's school holidays in this part of the world, and I managed to squeeze in a long-overdue trip to the beach last week. It was a gorgeous sunny day on the sunshine coast, with a warm breeze, and lots of seafood for lunch.....doesn't get much better than that.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKFhQRUfrF552dq0TrHwD-z5XHwd2Tju9TYRHGzY1QRlL6jzGy7RJfJNAbQ4bJK3NtSLZKTBKscrRjAHLOHoF9_yyKN3C5q1jJF3pe1W0V6IBn9q5JTWy5d7t9ey60Iwrf_tn0Ra4RmBMB/s1600/beach2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKFhQRUfrF552dq0TrHwD-z5XHwd2Tju9TYRHGzY1QRlL6jzGy7RJfJNAbQ4bJK3NtSLZKTBKscrRjAHLOHoF9_yyKN3C5q1jJF3pe1W0V6IBn9q5JTWy5d7t9ey60Iwrf_tn0Ra4RmBMB/s640/beach2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjBYPlAEEty0DAW0QANmdMdjJiR5e79GncvIfJ6yz2tSDNaDjAQfUwxAs_09KVX3RNuM3N55K2MHR3YGhp5J_Qcom53pa1cuJBCHuu7yPCJ7Oq_Xbfw4J_IMzAcBxkI8yWZrUR9JEvkfhY/s1600/beach3crop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjBYPlAEEty0DAW0QANmdMdjJiR5e79GncvIfJ6yz2tSDNaDjAQfUwxAs_09KVX3RNuM3N55K2MHR3YGhp5J_Qcom53pa1cuJBCHuu7yPCJ7Oq_Xbfw4J_IMzAcBxkI8yWZrUR9JEvkfhY/s640/beach3crop.jpg" width="546" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">yep, that's the Mr - shy little wallflower that he is :)</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3yByMrnR9TZAZV4iZdNAPavq3QoBtIoDFTnIxYTERL-Hsz8HzAO0EdJ2P3GwUP5DSRhsTguErmUgSkcE2P4QTG72Rq_BqpzsomJD05tHSFVXwv-2FZhQdj6MviZjo05PVGAABnKAAV5z8/s1600/beach1+crop2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="606" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3yByMrnR9TZAZV4iZdNAPavq3QoBtIoDFTnIxYTERL-Hsz8HzAO0EdJ2P3GwUP5DSRhsTguErmUgSkcE2P4QTG72Rq_BqpzsomJD05tHSFVXwv-2FZhQdj6MviZjo05PVGAABnKAAV5z8/s640/beach1+crop2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />But back to the coalface now - I have a painting to finish! Heavenly hideaway

I don't know about you, but now the kids are back at school, I could do with a holiday! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love school holidays, but they can be exhausting. So when I saw this little gem, it looked like the perfect place to relax and recharge. Oh, and the fact that one of the guesthouses is called 'Driftwood House' doesn't hurt either. With a choice of accomodation styles, there's something for everyone:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQe8UUcLY3LURucuvn_QcieutLhhr17h1euGbgqZRYaBvsXohuT2I2QOoqK1JDGNPLCGOot4y7W6bI0n5w_4jX2erQzhNCscoAw44MXUuhBqOVqLmGf4poUbxtu7UBv4n8pvAabGC0I6M/s1600/atlantic+guesthouses+10.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; Old-school holiday

We've just returned home from our little getaway on the mid-north coast of NSW, and I think it was just what the doctor ordered after a busy and very hectic first term at school and uni. It's also got me thinking about how holidays have changed since I was a kid.<br /><br />My sister-in-law and her family live in Sydney, so for the past few years we've met half way and spent a week on the Coffs coast in NSW. This year, we rented a rambling old heritage house in the town of Sawtell, and what a gem of a place it is. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; There was no fancy resort, we ate in most nights and the kids entertained themselves. Surfing, swimming, fishing and playing cards were the order of the day. We manage to find a joke book wherever we go, and the kids spent the week cracking up at whatever joke was read out loud, whether it was funny or not.
