Well hello there...

Hi all, remember me? I know it's been a while between drinks (far too long in fact), but I'm back at long last. To give you a quick recap, my daughter had surgery (and had really rough time of it, poor thing), I've been working non-stop on lots of new pieces, and I also have some really exciting ventures planned (which I'll share as soon as I can). So my little blog has been sadly neglected, as something had to give...well, if I wanted to stay sane anyway. But now I'm back and can't wait to catch up on everything - I've missed you all more than you know!<br /><br />As well as working on lots of new paintings (more on those later), I've been helping mum and dad with the renovation of their bathroom. In the mad rush of the past few months, I forgot to take before snaps (I know, I know!) but tomorrow I'll be back with a few shots of how it's coming along. A dream bathroom that's a dream to clean

One of my dearest friends is building a new home, on a gorgeous forty-acre block with views to die for. We've had a fantastic time choosing colours and finishes, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it all come together. One of the most clever design features used in this project is the use of the solid surface material <a href="http://austaron.com/">Staron</a> throughout. Many of you would be familiar with its use as a kitchen benchtop, but they've taken it one step further. Our ensuite is seriously overdue for a makeover, and I'm now thinking of using Staron in the shower, and pairing it with some other little tricks to give me the look I'm after. Up until now, most of the bathrooms I've seen using this material have been very contemporary, but I'm thinking of using it in a slightly different way. Bathing beauty

Hi all,<br /><br />Now that the renovation of our main bathroom is all but complete, we can start on the ensuite. As it's just for the two of us, and all teenagers (and occasionally husband!) will be banished, we can be a little more adventurous, and luxurious, in our selections. In the interests of consistency I plan to incorporate some of the elements of our main bathroom, but overall the plan is for a room with its own individual look.<br /><br />The room is small, so the use of more luxe materials like marble won't break the bank. One thing that's certain is colour - most definitely white. I'm thinking a marble-topped vanity, white tile, and a serene atmosphere. My husband is a shift worker and on weekends, when he was at work, I would jump in the car and go exploring, looking for the perfect place.<br /><br />Well, one day I found just the thing. It was only five minutes from everything but felt like it was a world away. I drove down what looked like a little country road, lined with gum trees, and found what we'd been looking for. After racing to the real estate agent, I soon discovered that this little gem of a place was way out of our price range. But the seed was firmly planted and I decided that one day we would find something we could afford.<br /><br />Fast forward nine years, two houses and three children, we went looking again and found just the house. It was on a couple of acres, with a fireplace and cathedral ceilings, and had loads of potential. It was soon ours and away we went. But we definitely got a little more than we bargained for.
