My big plan...the kitchen makeover (at last!)

And about time too I hear you say! Now of course, this 'little' makeover took <i>much</i> longer than first thought, but I'm so happy with the result it really doesn't matter. The whole room is much lighter and brighter, and so much nicer to work in. Kitchen splashback ideas?

So with my <a href="http://driftwood-interiors.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-big-planthe-epic-part-1.html">kitchen makeover</a> going along swimmingly, my thoughts have turned to the splashback. At the moment, the splashback is the same laminate as the benchtops. The beadboard I used to cover those hideous bricks is actually an MDF panel. So whether it will stand up to the rough and tumble of steam from the cooktop and the odd spill from the sink is what I need to consider.<br /><br />I'd love to hear from anyone who has these beadboard splashbacks, and how practical they are. Would you have them again, or are they more trouble than they're worth? I will of course post pictures of the whole room, from every conceivable angle, once all the ugly mess is gone for good. And for those who are interested, I'll give you the complete DIY run-down of everything I did, and how it was done.<br /><br />To say that I'm <i><b>LOVING </b></i>the room now is an understatement.The kids arrived home yesterday, to see me perched on my stepladder, cup of tea in hand, sighing wistfully to myself as I admired my handiwork. The kids accused me of thinking I was all that and more, to which I replied, 'actually, I think I'm awesome to the power of sick!!'<br /><br />Thanks for waiting so patiently for my big reveal, and for all your gorgeous comments - you guys are amazing and your encouragement means the world to me. Big plans..

So..today has been busy. And really exciting, because I've been working on some big plans for this house of mine...<br /><br /><br />Now my hubby is on a course for work at the moment, and I have a crazy idea...I'm going to take on a seriously big makeover while he's away. Hopefully he's as excited about it as I am (fingers crossed!), but loving the way my home looks, and the way it makes me feel, is really important to me and I know he'll be happy with whatever I do.<br /><br />So, I may be a little scarce over the next few days. But just wait till I show you what I've been up to.
