Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair By Thomas Heatherwick

<br/><p>It’;s not frequently we find a furnishing that gives not only a best spot to sit and a beautiful focal point to appear at, but also possibly a core workout as nicely.  But that’;s the case for Thomas Heatherwick’;s Spun chair, which produces a triple threat of function, fashion and maybe even fitness.  Originally debuting as a plastic molded seat in 2010, the a lot more current version characteristics a steel and copper exterior.  Clearly taking very a bit of care to make, the sculptural chair’;s production is a triumph of imagination and engineering combined.  Combining clever creativity and classic craftsmanship, the newest incarnation was made specifically for London’;s Haunch of Venison gallery.  Per Heatherwick: Each chair is assembled from 6 metal spinnings, welded collectively and polished to make a single unified form with a leather trim inlaid into the weight bearing rim.  Far shinier and more regal although equally whisper-worthy than the plastic molded version that came prior to it, this mod style seating alternative is a best conversation piece, if not a waist-whittler.</p><br/><img alt="dzn thomas heatherwick sq spun Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair By Thomas Heatherwick amazing ideas " height="500" src="http://decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/dzn-thomas-heatherwick-sq-spun.jpg" title="Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair By Thomas Heatherwick amazing ideas " width="500" /><br/><img alt="dzn thomas heatherwick spun peter mallett Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair By Thomas Heatherwick amazing ideas " height="500" src="http://decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/dzn-thomas-heatherwick-spun-peter-mallett.jpg" title="Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair By Thomas Heatherwick amazing ideas " width="500" /><br/><img alt="dzn thomas heatherwick spun Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair By Thomas Heatherwick amazing ideas " height="500" src="http://decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/dzn-thomas-heatherwick-spun.jpg" title="Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair By Thomas Heatherwick amazing ideas " width="500" /><br/><img alt="dzn thomas heatherwick spun Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair By Thomas Heatherwick amazing ideas " height="636" src="http://decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/dzn-thomas-heatherwick-spun_.jpg" title="Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair By Thomas Heatherwick amazing ideas " width="500" /><br/><p>Photo credits: Heatherwick Studio</p><br/><p>The post Mod Style Seating: The Spun Chair by Thomas Heatherwick </p><br/><p>

Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair

<br/><p>Once upon a time, a folding chair was the stuff of elementary school kids’; nightmares — a bulky, indomitable piece of tangential furniture brought out only on holidays and during extended family visits, full of sharp edges and quick corners capable of squishing the little fingers placed in charge of dragging them up from the basement to be placed around the kids’; table for large gatherings.  But today, that clanky metal monstrosity is little more than a thing of the past, thanks to Dutch design duo Douwe Jacobs and Tom Schouten, the minds behind Flux Furniture.  Flux makes a series of folding furniture unlike anything we’;ve ever seen, from its adult and child-sized chairs to its stools, tables and accessories.  Most fascinating is its envelope-inspired design, using “one craftily cut sheet of sustainable polypropylene” to create a rainbow of functional, space-saving occasional pieces. Available in a wide range of colors from white, yellow and orange to blue, green and more, the Flux chair is available online through Jacobs and Schouten for 89 British pounds — or a mere 59 for the junior edition.</p><br/><img alt="picture Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " height="576" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/picture.png" title="Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " width="600" /><br/><p> ;</p><br/><img alt="picture Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " height="428" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/picture__.png" title="Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " width="600" /><br/><p> ;</p><br/><img alt="picture Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " height="666" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/picture____.png" title="Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " width="600" /><br/><p> ;</p><br/><img alt="picture Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " height="331" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/picture_______.png" title="Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " width="600" /><br/><p> ;</p><br/><img alt="flux chair for kids Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " height="554" src="http://www.decoradvisor.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/flux-chair-for-kids_.jpg" title="Everything’s In Flux: A New Type Of Folding Chair amazing ideas " width="600" /><br/><p> ;</p><br/><p>Photo credits: Flux Furniture</p><br/><p>The post Everything’;s In Flux: A New Kind of Folding Chair </p><br/><p>

Mini home office

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>We have a small home office nook just off our main living area. At the moment, we have an ugly 'armoire' that houses the modem, printer, and other office paraphenalia. Now that we only have laptop computers, we don't need to worry about storing a tower and monitor, so I'm thinking of ditching the armoire for a nice desk/shelving/display arrangement, where I can inject a little more interest and personality. I also have a gorgeous old captain's chair, with a cast-iron base, which I've been wanting to use for years but haven't had the spot. So, I went looking for some online inspiration, and this is what I found:<br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT0-j2Jbw2ZFkJcxunr49Dc7s7KCG2zSOr7Pw5oBWukfQRHxUBFnmjJOXm3ukWai9oM9MLN19tiYf_dpt4S9597DO7HsnWNxoKYR0DmIpwhqzIFMjfaGdMzW98EiFlvkGhvghiuw2vMV8/s1600/office+housetohome+co+uk+personal-home-office.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; Fab Friday finds

For many years, I was a garage sale junkie. Every Saturday morning, I'd wake at the crack of dawn to trawl the local sales for treasures. And what treasures there were to be found! I was constantly amazed at the things people were discarding. Think huge cedar chests of drawers, beautiful carved mirrors, picture frames, the odd chaise <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">longue</span> or two; you name it. I bought it.<br /><br />I've restored and sold many of these over the years, but one of the advantages of living on acreage is that I have a huge shed. A shed which is still full of goodies, either awaiting restoration, or inspiration, or both. So I thought I'd share a few of these with you all each week, and we can discuss what should become of them. <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">Ok</span>, I'm starting small this week, because it's pouring with rain at the moment and they were much easier to wrangle than a marble-topped dining table! <br /><br />This chair is one that I managed to pick up for $1, and the little <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">chandy</span> for $5. The chair is painted a fetching shade of mission brown (ugh!) but the <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">chandy</span> had already been given the white treatment.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyECqCCgcGT0e1ZaD76DTc5dq69c3NIKCl3Z1eBOPrKUuGK5M2bdelFdk72S6o0SgVJNWXcyu89XCdWm7U_hHD5-KSB1cCLO0UTqSU_BT5SrZZlauS8203BBzACZyTGIrnaLQmzKeNS5o/s1600/chair+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyECqCCgcGT0e1ZaD76DTc5dq69c3NIKCl3Z1eBOPrKUuGK5M2bdelFdk72S6o0SgVJNWXcyu89XCdWm7U_hHD5-KSB1cCLO0UTqSU_BT5SrZZlauS8203BBzACZyTGIrnaLQmzKeNS5o/s400/chair+3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx56LknaqwLaHadZd3qQj1K87e2jQ_jwUyiLnQ9pzyrQXjNTVjWTf7LPLK5qMeDvpk8-o2id9fUEvQBXqp0fdlMBR9AnkeBf6RpR3p6OheZH62BdxuFO4tRnGm65r6NmrcWYvT0N_ElyU/s1600/chair1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx56LknaqwLaHadZd3qQj1K87e2jQ_jwUyiLnQ9pzyrQXjNTVjWTf7LPLK5qMeDvpk8-o2id9fUEvQBXqp0fdlMBR9AnkeBf6RpR3p6OheZH62BdxuFO4tRnGm65r6NmrcWYvT0N_ElyU/s400/chair1.jpg" width="267" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">The chair will probably end up as my new home office chair, and I'm even considering painting it in a colour other than white (shocking I know!) All I need to decide on is a pretty fabric for the seat cushion, and I'll be done. And I'm thinking of hanging the <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">chandy</span> in the corner above my desk - you know, a bit quirky and off centre? </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">So, what do you think? I love hearing your thoughts, so any ideas you have will be welcome. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Have a great weekend everyone, I'll be spending mine adding the finishing touches to the kitchen <span class="goog-spellcheck-word">reno</span>, so I promise to post all the pics next week.
